Mini Rants #1

I saw a woman the other day driving a Jetta with the complete rear smashed in. What was interesting to me was the fact that she had a newspaper page plastered over her steering wheel reading while we were on the expressway. You would think she would have a clue and see a connection.

Approximately 1 month ago the City of Chicago banned motorists from using han held cell phones while operating motor vehicles. So how fascinating it was to see one of Chicago's finest driving her police car down State st with her cell phone in her hand chatting avidly.

A friend of mine got a telemarketing call from a company selling a device that stops unwanted telemarketing calls. The irony is astonishing.

Our president went to two of the finest universities in this country, Harvard and Yale, but cannot put a sentence together that wasn't written for him previously.

Run Hillary Run ?

There is talk that Sen. Hillary Clinton is going to run for president in 2008. Not from her of course but I believe she is thinking seriously about it. She is the is probably the second most recognized democrat in the country ,after her husband of course, and lets just say the pickings are slim among the democratic party. She is an intelligent woman who has had some of the most revolting things said about her and has come through smelling like a rose. For eight years she was our Queen ( no real power but influences the government because she married to the president). And now she wants to be our president? What disturbs me about this is that Sen Clinton has been making noises towards the center like introducing a bill with Newt Gringrich and the like. I hate this. Instead of pandering to some iffy republicans and independents she should be standing up and pointing out the serious missteps by the republican party that controlls all of our government Unnecessary and unpopular war, humongous deficits, inflation, dismal job creation rate, states straining under the burden of less revenue, high gas prices and the commander of the shuttle saying this week that she could see that the atmosphere is thin and wide spread damage to the earth.

SHE SAID THAT SHE SAW IT WAS THIN FROM SPACE!!! I’m sorry but I must break in, this was the most important story from the last week. I mean that atmosphere that protects us from comets and meteors and more importantly the constant bombardment of radiation from the sun has degraded to the point were it can be seen. Sorry about the digression now back to the rant.

Instead she appears to becoming more like them. I want the democrat who wants to be my president to be able to say we tried it our way and got prosperity, you tried it your way and got well the big huge mess that this country is in. Also another big story that seems to be being ignored is Al Qaida’s number 2 saying that they were going to attack again all the while our president takes his 50th vacation for 5 weeks. Hello anyone remember 9/11. Why is it that no democrat seems to be able to stand and speak truthfully about the true state of the nation. We are in crisis as a country and the last thing we need is a politician who panders to polls, because the people of this country are ignorant and in the dark. Maybe if the democrats would speak up, stopped being cowed by the religious right, we might save our future.
I basically figured that the basic values of the republicans is business(corporations) first, democrats think people first. All of the people. This country needs some liberal doses of ,well, liberalism if we have any hope of becoming a country that lives up to the values that make this country great. If Sen. Clinton chooses to run in 2008 I hope that she realizes that right now we need leaders not politicians.
