OBAMA IN A LANDSLIDE

The last prediction I made I my blog was about the future of the boy who lived, Harry Potter for those not in the know, and it blew up in my face. Luckily no one reads my blog so my secret is safe. Today is the last day of the primaries. And I wanted to get this out before Obama official wins the democratic nomination. I am hoping it will be tonight.

I was listening to a podcast of Tony Kornheiser where he and Howard Fineman were discussing the race and telling each other what a hard time Obama is going to have when Hillary is winning this state and that state at the end. How is he going to bring her supporters on board and about all the problems he is going to face and I have come to the conclusion that it is all bullshit.

Obama in a landslide.

I feel the only way it won’t be a landslide is if he does one thing which is put Hillary Clinton on the ticket. If her assassination remark had one good consequence is that she will not be asked to join the ticket. For all those women like Harriet, who is making the rounds for her outburst on the internet, talk radio and the cable shows, they will fall in line. Nothing was taken away from Clinton she lost. The superdelegates voted for the candidate who won the most delegates. Period end of story. And he got the most votes too regardless of what Clinton says. Does anyone really believe that these women who were standing up for their female champion are ,when November comes, going to vote for a man who wants more war , thinks Roe vs Wade should be overturned, thinks that Alito and Roberts and Scalia are just the best judges around and has so many lovely anti women votes in his past that are going to be made into some interesting 527's in the coming months.

McCain has a problem with lobbyists , including one who precipitated the mortgage meltdown, and has voted to support 43's policies 95% of the time. So much for the Maverick. McCain voted against the minimum wage hike which 75% of Americans supported. He thinks that the free market will fix the health care problem. He has anger management problems, confuses details like Sunni and Shia and says while we are heading into a recession that he ”really doesn’t understand economics”.McCain has more than a few problems and I haven’t even begun with the problems he has within his own party.

25% of republicans are still not voting for him. He has literally done something to piss off each of the prominent factions within the republican party. The pro war wing doesn’t trust him because of his stance on immigration, the corporate wing doesn’t trust him because he has voted against tax cuts, the evangelicals are suspicious because he once call their leaders agents of intolerance and those Bob Barr/Ron Paul republicans seems to just hate him. The republicans are already losing safe seats in the house special elections (3 so far) and enthusiasm and turnout in the republican party is low.

One more time Obama in a landslide.

The picture that is painted in the media about McCain is far to genial. America has yet to meet the real McCain and on the other side the media has spent months debating and rehashing every questionable dealing Obama ever had and yet they are pretty much tied in the polls with Obama being slightly ahead.. I literally can’t wait for the debates. A young energetic Obama looking to the future against McCain acting confused and holding on to the past. 81% of Americans thinks the country is going in the wrong direction and John McCain picks this year to flip flop on all of his previous held moderate positions to get his party’s nomination and in the process lost any chance he had to win. America is longing for change and McCain isn’t it.

Winner Takes None

Winning isn’t the most important thing; it’s the only thing-Vince Lombardi

When did America become land where the persons who wins doesn’t win? When will the majority have its voice? I have listened to people try to justify /explain /rationalize/spin why Hillary Clinton should be the nominee of the Democratic Party. I have heard and watched people twisting themselves into knots to express their view why Clinton should be allowed to assume the nomination when more people, when the day is done, will have voted for Barack Obama. Has our democracy become so malleable that the winner isn’t the winner? Now there are reports of super delegates wanting favors and assurances in return for their vote. The democratic process is being bought and sold in an open market for all the world to see. Is this the America people want? We are a nation of laws that imprisons people without trial. We are signatories to the Geneva Conventions but we torture using “enhanced techniques”.We are illegally spied upon by our own government. We are in the middle of a war that 70% of the American people oppose, but still it continues. Will our rhetoric ever match our actions? When will the American people get to choose their destiny or will they have it chosen for them again? If Hillary Clinton is the democratic nominee I will not vote for her and I am not alone. The Democratic Nation Committee has a choice to make. They can either follow the will of the voters or they can face defections and apathy from their party and they will have lost the presidential election before a single vote is cast in November. And if they choose Clinton they should change their name because their action would anything but “democratic”.

The Triple Threat

I was listening to a podcast of Tony Kornheiser describing this movie with Joey Fatone in it. Ironically the discussion began with the topic Dancing with the Stars. It morphed into a description of a movie named The Cooler. As Tony was giving a brief synopsis of the movie where in the end in his words “legs were broken and people were killed.” He and David Aldridge, who was the person the 30 second movie review was aimed at, both agreed with gusto and enthusiasm that it was a great film. As I heard this the thought came to me about why people in this country don’t strap bombs on themselves and try to blow people up in that manner much anymore but suicide bombers are very prevalent in the Middle East. Bill Maher theorized that one reason suicide bombers are so willing to strap a bomb on themselves is because they don’t have any contact with women so they have no outlet for sexual frustration. I think we can take it a little farther and say the violence in our movies has to be taken in account. Imagine all of those young men being able to vent that need to be violent in a nice two hour dose every Friday and Saturday night at the local multiplex. The Romans built the Colosseum so that the citizenry could watch all the barbarism they could handle. So maybe what we need is less Private Ryans (our brave soldiers) and more Saving Private Ryan the 1998 movie staring Tom Hanks that is renowned for its graphic violence of war. So maybe if we stop trying to give the Iraqi’s freedom and start giving out DVD’s we could start winning this occupation.... Probably not, but the movies studios might just find an audience for Battlefield Earth. If the movies don’t do the trick we could move to video games. The Grand Theft Auto Series has both sex and violence and you don’t have to leave the comfort of home to enjoy it. So how about it America. I say we start a campaign were we adopt a suicide bomber and send him or her a Sony Playstation 3 with all the violent and sex filled movies and games America has to offer and see if we can turn those young people into masturbating couch potatoes.

Gleam of triumph (and why Harry Potter survives)

I believe Harry Potter will triumph over Voldemort in the end.As I am currently listening to (POA) on my computer I was struck by something Harry says after he finds out (from over hearing Mr.and Mrs.Weasley conversation) that he had escaped from Voldy 3 times already and by the end of HBP he has faced Voldy again in OOTP and survived. The prophecy states” And either must die at the and of the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...’.Which I interpret to mean that they will face each other and that each of them will have the ability to die when that situation comes about. So Harry’s survival up to this point is less about his skill and others skills in protecting him but more that the prophecy playing itself out. Harry cannot die until Voldemort can die completely And so that Voldemort can actually die forever his Horcruxes must be destroyed. So as the prophecy plays itself out Harry must survive to get to the ultimate test.

When Voldemort ‘ marked him as his equal’,they truly were equal in power from that moment. Harry on a path of light and Voldy down the path of darkness. We watch Harry’s extraordinary kindness, love and forgiveness in contrast to Voldy’s cruelty, hate and vengeance. He shows us his strengths when his has the chance to kill the man who he believes betrayed his parents, and he does not. When Dudley is being attacked by the Dementors Harry never hesitates in coming to his cousin’s rescue. In GOF Harry is running through the graveyard yelling expelliarmus while Volde is cursing him with AK. Even after he watched Snape kill Dumbledore he sent a spells like Levicorpus and not one unforgivable curse. Showing that his goodness overwhelms his desire for revenge.
The reason that Harry will survive and kill Voldemort after destroying the remaining Horcruxes is because of the gleam of triumph. Harry sees it right after he tells DD about Voldemort using his blood to regenerate. I believe by taking a piece of Harry Voldemort unbalanced the scales and tipped them in Harry’s favor. And with a lot of villains their true ruin comes at their own hand. By some action that they thought would help themselves but in the end is the reason for their own downfall. When Harry’s and Voldemort wands connect in GOF they are both willing their own wand to defeat the other Harry wins. Voldemort is diminished and Harry wins that duel. It is theorized that the reason that the universe exists is because after the Big Bang that there was more matter than anti-matter. When matter and ani-matter come in contact which each other they destroy each other and because there was slightly more matter we exist today. That is why Harry survives the final showdown between them because in using Harry’s blood Voldemort dilutes his pure evil with Harry’s goodness giving Harry the advantage he needs to survive.

665,000

In the only scientifically done estimate of the deaths of Iraqi citizens the Bloomberg School of Public Health at John Hopkins University found that 665000 Iraqis have died since this country’s illegal invasion of their country. This number was quickly dismissed by the administration and soon this story went the way of all the other stories about this nightmare of the Bush administration, no where.

I would like anyone considering voting for a Republican or Democrat that supports this President on November 7th to think about what if the shoe was on the other foot. Suppose we Americans were suddenly proclaimed to be part of an Axis of Evil. A society that was purported to have WMD all the while proclaiming its innocence. Imagine that our country was being occupied by a foreign Muslim army. On streets all across America there were Muslims carrying assault rifles shooting innocent Americans that happen to cross the occupiers path because they don’t want to take the chance that that American might be plotting to shoot them or blow up an IED. What if you were driving down your street in your hometown and one of those foreign occupiers shot you or your loved one in their car because they didn’t slow down quick enough to satisfy the guard on duty. Imagine that your freedoms were curtailed and you were told when you could safely walk down your street and when you had to be home. Imagine if while driving down the street a foreign contractor was shooting at your car and a videotape of the incident was shown on Al Jazeera to a musical soundtrack while the contractors laugh with their associates Imagine being an innocent citizen picked up off the street thrown in jail and tortured. Imagine if you or your loved one was injured in this war and you went to your local hospital to be treated and you were left to die because since there is only 6 hours of electricity the doctors at the hospital can only treat the people who have a 70% chance of survival. If you were lucky enough not to be injured imagine what it would be like living with only 4-6 hours of electricity. Imagine what it would be to live in a desert and have trouble finding clean water to drink. Imagine that roads, schools, hospitals are blown apart and not rebuilt. Imagine if you are a woman living in a secular USA before the occupation and three years after the invasion your rights are being stripped just because of your sex. You are told what to wear and are now afraid to go out in public alone. Imagine if after the invasion your security forces are disbanded., militias roam your neighborhood killing anyone who doesn’t view God the way you do and foreign terrorist flood into your city trying to kill anyone Imagine if these terrorists were using your country to train other terrorists. Imagine if bombs were dropped from the air and that cancer causing chemicals were used against American citizens. Imagine that your counrty has devolved into a chaos so severe that reporters can’t even report what is going on in most of the country. Imagine if the violence brought by the Muslim occupiers caused the USA to break out in a civil war. Imagine that we were told that we would have democracy but when a leader is elected democratically we were told that the occupiers didn’t approve of our choice so we had to vote all over again

We here in America mourn the deaths of our service men and women lost in Iraq but I believe too little attention is paid to the devastation that this unnecessary war has done to the people of Iraq. They asked for none of this. The one thing they have asked of us is to leave which happens to be the one thing our President is resolved not to do. We Americans can not undue the evil but we can stop it. November 7th is our chance. I can’t imagine us not taking it.

It's the Economy Stupid

Earlier this week Walmart opened its first store in Chicago. The most interesting thing about this is the fact that 10 to 15 thousand people applied for 450 jobs. I have just one question. If the economy is going so great why are literally thousands of people trying to get a job that pays 16,000-20,0000 a year with limited benefits.

Mini Rants #2

In the ever growing file of why everyone hates us:
I was watching the TV and there was an ad for a streak free car washing system. This included a purifier for the water. The water used to clean the car. An American company is selling a water purifier that is only used to WASH CARS. People in Iraq are searching for clean water to drink and cook with and we are being told we need a filter for our garden hose.

My second rant is that about 2 weeks go I was buying milk from a grocery near my home and on the side of the milk was an advertisement for crustless PB&J sandwiches. I couldn’t believe it my food was whoring for other food. This is the same kind of assault you get after paying $9.00 for a movie and then having to watch fifteen minutes of ads. The gallon of milk was $4.00 and I feel that if I am going to be bombarded with ads at least I should get a discount on the milk.
